I experienced my first miscarriage when I was 19 years old. At the time, my naivety shielded my heart from feeling the pain that comes with loss. That unresolved deep sorrow would come to surface when I experienced a Neonatal Passing when I was 29 years old at just 17 weeks gestation.
I questioned how this could happen.
I had three other healthy and happy baby boys. Was it something I ate? Was it something I drank? How I moved? How I slept? I would never know. What I would know is losing our sweet baby boy was one of the hardest seasons I have ever walked through. A pain, undescribable...A pain that lingered with the scent of guilt and shame.
But that pain opened the door to relate to hundreds of women in my network who were suffering in silence. That pain also opened the door to me becoming a doula and supporting other women in their birthing journeys. That pain was not in vain; I couldn't let it be. It needed to serve purpose. It needed to be a Legacy for my baby boy.
